Breadcrumbs:
Blackbird
Her wings stretch wide, her feathers gleam
And off her perch she flies
Into the sky as if in a dream
As tears escape her eyes.
Blackbird cries out one last time
For help, or maybe warning.
No one cares, and they don't know
She won't be there in the mourning.
Over blackened hills and waters
She continues her ascent.
Through grey, dead clouds, she knows deep down
They don't know that she's gone yet.
She feels weak, her wings give out,
And to the ground she falls.
A bright light shimmers like the sun
As frantically she calls.
Someone tries to catch her
But he is just too late.
When he finds her on the ground,
She's already met her fate.

It gave me chills to re read this, about a year later...
I was so disturbed, and I think a part of me still is.
