A Day in Her Life

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Her skin stings, unforgiving,
From the futile cuts she made.
She had strict rules for herself-
Why hadn't she obeyed?

Her black hair falls out, strand by strand
Because it's overdyed.
She blames herself for all her pain,
Though yet she's never cried.

Smiling and fake-laughing,
She was told, would ease the pain.
Her smiles now lack meaning
And her laughter is in vain.

She thinks of things like suicide
In the still and dead of night,
Then thinks of those she'd leave behind-
She will, she won't, she might...

She's been told to wait
Before she gets a chance to talk
She knows no one will listen.
She's caught in a deadlock.

I know how you feel... my best friend gave up on me the night I told her I cut myself.  That was 6 months ago and even thought it doesn't still throb, every day I ache to have her back in my life.  If you ever want to talk, I'm here.

That was a beautiful poem...
