The Life I Know

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Just tell me what you want from me
I'll do the best I can
To explain the depths of my soul
Give excuses for my scars
Cover up all my lies
You keep saying you want the truth
But believe me, love, you don't
My truths are filled with burning hatred
Enclosed in glass and surrounded by barbs
You can try to reach in
I may try to reach out
Someone gets hurt either way
Just let me stay inside this box
Let me live the life I know
From the outside it looks painful
But it's not anymore, I promise
After you're burned so many times
You no longer feel the pain
After you're cut this deeply
Every scratch feels like a kiss
