In Their Own Words
For several years I have been collecting filled out surveys sent me via the form on another section of my site. This was done first out of idle interest and a desire to see if others shared my experiences. I also desired to pass on some of what I read in these hundreds upon hundreds of surveys: the knowledge that there are others out there who have shared your experiences. That is a fact most likely known intellectually but less easily felt emotionally. Within these quotes taken from many of these surveys, filled out by other self-injurers like yourself, lie a multitude of emotions. Fear, anxiety, depression, anger and hope, to name a few. The individuals behind these quotes are very real and, in some ways, much like yourself. They know how it is to self-injure and they know how difficult it is to live with in your life.
These quotes are an honest look at different aspects of self-injury, taken from people of all ages and from around the world. For this reason they may be triggering. If you do not feel you are in a safe place don't read them.
