HealingWell.com - In-depth information, news and articles about health and mental health conditions. As well as message boards, chat, book reviews and free e-mail/homepages. An extensive resource directory and a newsletter.


HealthyPlace.com - Divided into communities that represent major psychological interests. These communities offer sites, information, support lists and events. Conference transcripts, forums, chat and a radio broadcast. Journals, support groups and free e-mail/sites.


Internet Mental Health - Information more geared towards a mental health professional. Diagnostic criteria for mental health disorders, research and treatment guidelines. Information on seventy-two of the most commonly prescribed psychiatric medications. A magazine which includes articles, booklets, books, newsletters and 'success' stories.


Mental Health Sanctuary - Information for the consumer, families and mental health professionals. Extensive information about a number of different mental disorders, articles about mental health and medication, forums, a section for clinicians and information on the latest research. A section for fun/healing, one on suicide prevention and a list of resources.


Mental Help Net - A must see, the world's largest mental health directory and online community. Numerous 'topic centers,' each of which concentrates on a mental health issue (i.e. depression). These 'topic centers' contain information, articles, news and links. There is also a section called the 'Reading Room,' which contains numerous articles, advice, editorials and Perspectives magazine. Also, there are searchable databases for many mental health related resources (i.e. treatment centers, therapists, jobs), reviews of books and a large support community (message boards and chats).


National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) - Information for those with a mental disorder and family/friends. Affiliate/support group finder, a helpline, programs and a newsmagazine The Advocate. Information on legal issues and public policy when in relation to mental health. Also, information on research done by NAMI and others.


National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) - Extensive information on mental disorders organized into three categories: the Public, the Practitioners and the Researchers. Information, news, fact sheets, statistics, reports and more are available in each category. Also, information on intramural research and clinical trials.


NeedyMeds.com - Provides information about using patient assistance programs and getting needed medication when you can't afford it.


Psych Central - Reviewed resource directory that caters to both the consumer and the professional. Information related to the symptoms and/or treatment of the mental disorders. A number of articles, essays, writing, etc. by Dr. Grohol. Quizzes for several mental health problems, a suicide helpline, book reviews and the latest psychiatric news. Live chats and support forums.


Recovery Web - Information about addiction, trauma and related issues. A list of resources, both online and offline.


Selfhelp Magazine - Numerous articles, book/movie/product reviews and an extensive list of resources. A section for professionals which contains information, articles, reviews, e-mail lists and more. Information about meditation, psychology-related cartoons and support forums.


Step Out of the Silence - A network of advocacy and support for youth mental health. A virtual community in which young people can share their experiences through artwork, prose, poetry, photography, and graphic art, as well as learn about how they can join in anti-stigma campaigns and advocacy efforts regarding mental health.


Treatment Advocacy Center - A non-profit organization that works to break down barriers to mental health treatment. Articles, fact sheets, personal accounts, essays and information on legal statutes.


web4health - Answers to more than 900 questions about psychology, mental health and relationships, written by a team of experts appointed by the Commission of the European communities.
