Sharon has body dysmorphic disorder, which has led to numerous plastic surgeries. She is also a compulsive shopper. She self-injures through self-hitting. She has bruises on her thighs and stomach. She also hits herself repeatedly on the head with a hairbrush.
Kim is anorexic and bulimic. She also cuts herself. Her birth father emotionally and physically abused his family until his wife left him, which left Kim with anxiety about being left alone and a co-dependent relationship with her mother. Her step-father is unsupportive because she is needy and he feels she is attention-seeking.
Amy grew up feeling unloved and unable to meet her parents' high expectations. She was also molested by a neighbor when she was eight, but never told anyone in her family. She began to self-mutilate and restrict her diet, and by 17, she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Now, Amy eats only 500 calories a day, drinks up to two bottles of vodka a night, and regularly self-mutilates. Amy's family is ready to give up on her, but they still don't know about Amy's sexual abuse. Only Amy's friend, Jessica, knows the truth, but will she have the courage to tell Amy's family before it's too late?
While the main focus is on Amy's addiction to meth, Amy and her friends and family also have stated an addiction with cutting as well; there is a scene where her brother finds her out on the street (she is homeless) and notices she has cut herself with a kitchen knife and goes to the ER to get stitches.

Welcome!
My name is Gabrielle and I am twenty-eight years old. I began to self-injure at age fifteen -- so nearly thirteen years -- minus a two year period. This website was made to let self-injurers know that they are not alone and to help their friends and family learn more about self-injury and how it affects their loved one.
