Family and Friends
Learning that your loved one is a self-injurer can be devastating, confusing and a number of other mixed emotions. You may turn to scouring sites and books for information or you may talk to a therapist or perhaps you may even try to ignore it. Whichever reaction you may have, it is natural. You may feel the need to talk about it with others and get some feedback from people who understand what you are going through. Unfortunately, there are very few places in real life where you can talk to others who have loved ones who are self-injurers. The internet is often the only place you can do so.
'Self-Injury: A Struggle' attempts to provide a forum for friends, family and partners of self-injurers. There you can vent, ask questions, get support and support others. As of now, it is small but it is my hope that some of you will find use for it and that it will grow into a larger community.
