Emotion Dysregulation in the Treatment of Self-Injury, by Kim L. Gratz (2007)
This article is easy to read and understand. Its purpose is to explain why Dialectical Behavior Therapy is an effective method to help stop self-injurying. In doing so, it describes the case of a 26-year old woman that began her self-injurying after graduating college. In describing her case, the article provides a lot of insight as to why she began to self-injure, and how she benefited from the therapy.
The title says nothing new but remember when the number tossed around in the ’90s was 1 in 100? Media attention is a two-edged sword.
