How Do You Hide Scars? (not active SI wounds)

It's fairly easy for me to hide mine

Most of the responses I read have to do with hiding scars on your arms or wrists, which is understandable since that's the most common place people cut. But I'm a little different.

I started cutting my freshman year of high school and I've continued on and off for about five years. When I first started cutting, I made two slashes on my left wrist because that's the first place I could get my hands on. Sure, the self-injury made me feel better at the moment, but for the next week or so I was completely paranoid. Whenever I was around someone I would keep my arm down or cross my arms. After that I knew I wouldn't be able to hide what eventually became a cruel addiction if it was painted right there on my arms. So one day while I was getting dressed, I realized that there was a spot I could cut that no one would ever see and wouldn't damage any organs.

That day I started cutting my right hip. Five years later, still no one knows about my problem. My swimsuits cover more skin than the average teenager since my area of scars has expanded more than I ever imagined, but that's a miniscule condition if it means my secret stays a secret.

So my scars are safely hidden behind my jeans and underwear. And since I'm a virgin, I've never had a problem hiding them. But if I ever want to have sex with a guy, I guess I'll have to tell him. I assume it would really kill the mood (hell, it would probably scare him off) when he saw the many ugly scars on my hip.  Read more »

Maybe it'll help..

I wear long-sleved tops and jeans all the time and when it's really hot I just put on a bunch of bracelets and wear short-sleved tops. It is really hard to cover your scars though, because sometimes it just isn't possible. Like when you have to go swimming or something..

I hate when someone sees my scars, because they just don't understand. They think that I'm just attencion seeking and sometimes they just stop talking to me. I wish for once in my life somebody would understand..

I Don't...

When I first began to injure 11 years ago at the age of 15, I hid my scars by religiously wearing long sleeves even in the spring or summer (I cannot even remember a time when I didn't). By the time I was 16 my mom was well aware of what I was doing so I didn't try to hide scars only fresh wounds. As I've grown older, I no longer try to hide my scars which have taken over my left arm seeing as I'm right-handed. People seldom ask me what happened to my arm and when the often do they say something stupid such as, "You must have a really mean cat?". It bothers me when strangers ask me what happened to my arm because they are simply being nosy but I am perfectly content with explaining my situation to those close to me. I have noticed, however, that I often prefer to wear long sleeves although I am not actively trying to conceal my scars. Maybe it is a subconcious thing...

How I hide my scar..

I have no problem with disfigurement from scars but I covered the places I'd generally cut with tatoos knowing the disfigurement

I couldn't stand was a scar thru a tat so I figured this would stop me. I was right and well I was wrong. First thing I never cut thru a

tat so I was right about that. Second thing was it didn't stop me. I just picked a new spot. On the subject of tattoos I have 7. I got them

1 every pay check after the first. I was 21 at the time. I was for going food to get  these tattoos so it was kind of nuts. I'd have $200 bucks

left over each paycheck after a tat to last me 2 weeks for gas, smokes, bills, and food. Really after the 7th tat I got to thinking that I am doing

more harm to myself than anything I was doing before that. I mean I was working twelve hours day 6 days a week for minumum wage

and well I needed gas to work, I needed my smokes so I didn't snap, had to pay my bills,  and so food is what I'd go without. Read more »
