Healing the Hurt Within : Understand and Relieve the Suffering Behind Self-Destructive Behaviour (Jan Sutton)

    • This book is a giant leap forward in making self-harm understandable to professionals and self-harmers alike. The damaging, often deliberate ignorance of society at large about the consequences of childhood trauma and abuse, whether sexual, physical or emotional is deep rooted. For people already suffering to have to cope with hostile disbelief and judgemental attitudes is a double injury.

I really rate this book, Jan cleary did
her home work before putting pen to
paper. Rather than someone who cut for 6
    months writing some inspirational
rubbish Jan has been working as a mental
health profetional for many years. ~She
draws on resurch from all over the world
as well as looking into the history of
self harm. It ties in issues of eating
distress and sexual abuse. Genuily a
real eye opener, I would suggest it to
all, cutter or affected by others
