    • The young woman in the movie, Susanna, spends time in a psychiatric hospital after a suicide attempt. Towards the beginning of the film it is revealed she is a “wrist banger.” Daisy, another young woman in treatment, is revealed to be cutting herself when Lisa, another character who is said to be a sociopath, lifts up her sleeves in a confrontation at Daisy’s home. Daisy had been released from treatment and Lisa and Susanna had escaped from the hospital and visited her.

The movie is based upon Susanna Kaysen’s memoir, “Girl, Interrupted.”

Susanna: ‘You should check my hand, there’s. There’s no bones in it.’

Doctor: ‘Looks like a wrist banger. Is that why you did this?’

Susanna: ‘And other things. Sometimes it’s hard for me to stay in one… place…’

Lisa: ‘What’s this? Huh? What’s this?’

      Daisy: ‘Let go.’

Lisa: ‘Tryin’ out your new silver?’

Daisy: ‘Get the fuck off of me.’

Lisa: ‘Less appealing for Daddy, huh?’

Daisy: ‘Look at your own arm, asshole.’

Lisa: ‘I’m sick, Daisy, we know that. But here you are in so-called recovery, playing Betty Crocker, cut up like a God damn Virginia ham.’

Tell me that you don’t take that blade and drag it across your skin, and pray for the courage to press down.
