You are invited to participate in a research study conducted by Dr. Stephen P. Lewis, Poojan Joshi, and Dr. Yukari Seko from the Department of Psychology at the University of Guelph, Canada.
If you are 16 years or older and have self-injured without suicidal intent, please consider taking part in this research study.
The purpose of this study is to explore viewers’ perceptions toward comments posted to a self-injury video on YouTube. If you choose to participate in this study, you will be asked to read comments posted on a YouTube video and answer a series of questions (your experience with self-injury, etc.). This study should take approximately 45 minutes to complete, however, you may take as much time as you need. Please note, however, that this study should be completed in one sitting. This means, you would not be able to start the study at one time and come back to finish the questions at a later time.
This project has been reviewed by the Research Ethics Board for compliance with federal guidelines for research involving human participants (REB# 16FE030).
