04/08/2010 - A Bit of An Update on Me and Opening Up to Anonymous Contributions

    • Most of you were unaware that I was recently hospitalized for about a week and a half because I’d been struggling with self-injury, suicidal ideation, and had a breakdown on a weekend trip I took to Las Vegas. That was why accounts/creative works took so long to get validated/published. I’m still struggling after the hospitalization, especially with the new medication they’ve given me which takes away a lot of my ability to concentrate or really care much about anything. Today is the first day I’ve not spent the first part of the day confused and unable to give more than monosyllabic responses… and not really because the medication eased up.

Just trying to explain why I’ve been really, really slow on responding or even publishing things people have sent me. I hope that it will be cleared up with my appointment with my regular psychiatrist next week.

I also want to say that anonymous users can add their creative works and or articles/essays/opinion pieces/etc. to the site without registering. I thought about it and felt that a lot of people who do may not want to associate themselves with the site or be a regular member might very well want to be heard by other self-injurers and other people who want to support self-injurers. When you add something it goes into a queue so I can make sure it’s not something hateful or containing photographs of self-injury/thinspiration/purging/drug use.

I’m so sorry to hear that your going through a hard time Gabrielle. I do hope your hospitalization wasn’t awful and the medication starts to help you soon. I don’t know what all you went through but I can only imagine because I’ve been hospitalized way too many times. I’ve personally never been hospitalized for self injury but I have been hospitalized for suicidal ideation, suicide attempts, and bad reactions to antidepressants. I don’t know why the hospital never caught onto the scars and cuts as self injury when they did the body check but I should be thankful, I think. Anyway I hope things get better for you soon and just remember your not alone!

It was a pretty standard hospitalization, nothing complicated. My psychiatrist there decided I had bipolar (ha!) and needed to be on Seroquel. I’ve been pretty upfront about my issue with self-injury at all the hospitals I’ve been at though I’ve not always been good at following the rules there.

Thank you for the well wishes. It’s been a bad month.

LOL, my psychiatrist said I was bipolar on my first hospitalization. Anyways I hope the Seroquel helps you out more then what it did for me. I wish I could have been more upfront about my issues when I was in the hospital but I just played them all while I was there so I could get out. As for following the rules, I wasn’t very good at following the rules while I was there.

Your Welcome! Understandable I’m having a bad month too but I hope yours gets better soon!
