I would like to invite you to take part in a face to face interview.
My name is Edyta and I am studying at City University in London. I am looking into self-injury as part of my research for my doctoral thesis. The widespread perception of self-injury places an emphasis on the negative aspects of the behaviour. However, there is also a less known view that constructs self-harm as a positive behaviour. Therefore, this research aims to explore the understanding of hope and hopelessness amongst individuals who injure themselves, and I am looking for people who would be willing to share their stories with me in a non-judgemental environment.
I am looking for people who are:
- at least 20 years of age
- in employment (part-time or full-time)
- relying on self-injury from time to time
- without suicidal intentions and
- not currently undergoing therapy or counselling
Participation will involve time commitment of about 90 minutes. Interviews will be treated with strict confidentiality and your identity will be protected.
If you would like your story to be heard I would like to hear from you
If you would like to take part in this research or wish to find out more information, please email me at researchself-injuryStory.info or abgz329city.ac.uk
This research has gain an ethical approval of the City University Ethics Committee and is supervised by Dr Renata Pires-Yfantouda (email: renata.pires-yfantouda.2city.ac.uk )
I am based in London where I hope to conduct the interviews. However, I am willing to travel to interview participants so please contact me even if you live in another part of England.
