    • I keep my knife in the liner of an old purse.  It's a flip open Exacto, and sometimes I wear it on my hip (it has a clip on the back) if I feel especially confident that day.

Most times I turn on music.  An album, or a playlist; something I know won't stop abruptly.  I listen to what I normally listen to, not anything angry or sad.

I gather my supplies.  I lay a bath towel on the chair and I grab my bag of whites.  It's the bag that came with a sheet set and it has a drawstring closure.  I pull out a gauze box and my Tupperware of medical tape.  Pull out a few gauze squares, stick them on the table in front of me.

I undo my pants and (and belt, if I wear one that day ) and lean back on the chair.  Take off my pants.  I wipe my legs with those little alcohol pads, to be safe, you know, and inspect the blade.  Replace if needed.

I take a deep breath and cut.  About three to four each leg.  Not too deep.

I do homework.  (It's on the same table where I si).  I watch my legs bleed until they stop and they congeal.

I sigh, and clean them up.  Wipe them off with a dirty bath towel.  Go over each cut with a prep pad.  Then stick a gauze square around them and tape it.
