Do you know someone else who self harms?

    • Hi I’m bigmama051,

Most or all of my friends self harm.  I have 1 friend who did and I took her to the hospital and she hasn’t cut since. she was afraid that she would have scars and I looked at the cuts and told her which ones would scar and those ones did leave a scar. She is in and out of hospital so much because she does other things of self harm that cause her to be hospitalized.  All my other friends do self harm.  We have all been in therapy for many years and I’m still going.

My daughter and her partner self harm every time they drink.  There are so many ways of self harming people don’t realize that they are doing it.  She thinks drinking isn’t self harming and I have to try and make her understand that drinking is a way of self harming but she doesn’t agree.  She has mental health issues and won’t take her meds.  She says drinking makes her relax and her problems will go away.  Sometimes I think that her dad told her that I did it and I think she wanted to try it and was satisfied at the outcome.  I feel bad because it I hadn’t maybe she wouldn’t have done it.

My sister was self harming and now she too is scared.  We were all in hospital at the same time at one time or other and that’s were we all met.  We are all at different stages of healing but some still self harm, including myself.

People don’t realize that peircings, tattoos,or anything that causes injury to the body is a form of self harming and it’s really sad that people can be that ignorant about it.
