What attitudes have you encountered when seeking medical help
OMG you would think I had 20 heads, I stabbed someone, or other things. I wasn’t taken seriously. Hospital staff couldn’t wait to get away from me as if I had a deadly disease. They didn’t want to get close enough to take bloodwork.
In my situation. the first time. my ex was terrified and kept my kids away because he thought I was going to do it in front of them. When I saw my physchiatrist and clinican they knew it was more than a cry for help and escorted me to the physc ward, as long as my clinican was with me the staff was o.k. When she left I was treated like I had AIDS and it was contagious like AIDS in the 80”s. People need to be educated and stop being so ignorant.
Now we are hearing more about people are doing more self-harming on the T.V., it’s a start.
Evan now when staff see the scars they ask what their from and when I tell them they back off like a creature is going to pop out of scars and attack them.
The medical staff are getting better but they have a LONG way to go.
