    Why? I'm not completely sure.

    • Truthfully I don't remember the first time I cut myself but I'm pretty sure it was my wrist. I do know it was after I started high school. Three days ago I relapsed after being a day shy of seven months clean. I've been battling with my mind those months not to do it because I know I'd regret it but for a while I didn't regret it. I know why I relapsed. My ex and I had been broken up for a month and he lead me to believe we could get back together. Then all the lies came to surface. He lied about the true reason he ended things. He had feelings for someone else (who is a mutual friend) and was just now telling me this. We had been together for over six months and he was my first relationship so this cut me deep in my heart so in return I cut my skin deep. That along with the anxiety I get from school and my lack of social life just makes me want to damage my body the way my mind and heart feel damaged.

You've an amazing achievement in staying seven months free of it. Cutting (and all self-harm, really) is an addiction much like any other and you have my admiration for staying away from it: you've proven how strong you are. Don't let this one guy undermine your achievement. You've proven in those seven months that you are strong. Please, go see a counselor. They won't fix everything (you're the amazing person who will do that) but they can help.
